Biostatistics group seminar 4th December

Postby M. Bucknall » Tue Nov 27, 2018 11:40 am

Dr Tom Palmer from Lancaster University will be giving a seminar on "directed acyclic graphs (DAGs)" as part of our Biostatistics seminar series at Research Institute for Primary Care & Health Sciences, Keele University.

Tuesday 4th December 2-3:30pm in Dinwoodie lecture theatre, Primary Care Sciences, David Weatherall building.

Abstract: In this talk I will describe directed acyclic graphs and the d-separation rules. I will describe how these can be used to inform statistical modelling. I will also discuss the limitations of direct acyclic graphs; what they don't show well and what they don't tell us. I will draw comparison with some model selection algorithms. In summary, directed acyclic graphs are a useful addition to a statistician's toolkit.
