This is a pivotal, complex role in a specialised field of operation for the University, across a multiple site-operating School, working with a wide range of external stakeholders and decision makers. This will include Health Education England (HEE), especially its regional body, and numerous NHS organisations.

The post-holder is the most senior professional services staff member within the School and not only has responsibility for the smooth running of the School to support the delivery of its programmes, but has key relationship responsibilities, complex budgetary planning duties and strategic planning work, under the direction of the Head of School.

You will provide leadership for and represent a large complex team of professional managerial, administrative and technical School staff across multiple sites.

You will provide business continuity for the School, professional strategic and planning advice, and management and support to the Head of the School of Medicine and School Executive Committee in the management and operation of the School.

You will have a postgraduate qualification in a subject relevant to this post or equivalent experience, including significant experience in a leadership and management role in Higher Education, together with significant experience of planning and managing staffing, finances and other resources, of working in partnerships, and of managing change. An awareness of the key issues prevalent in the NHS, an appreciation of the complexities of multiple site working, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a keen eye for detail, excellent leadership, management and negotiation skills, and excellent teamworking skills are amongst the essential skills and competences for this role.
